Hello Everyone,
We have been spending our days up in Captains Cove due to the gusty Northwest winds….makes for some chilly days out at the Dolphin Bar and on the Tiki deck.
We had a great ride through all the wind….waves only built to about 2 feet in Captains Cove….
Today the winds will be dropping off all day….this will make for a beautiful sunny day and things will be warming up nicely…..
The winds through the weekend will be 10-15 kts. The waves will be about 1-2ft. The ride will be good all weekend…..
If you check the local forecast you will see an odd report……”Small Craft Advisory for Seas” even though the winds are forecast at 10-15.
There is a strong weather system way out in the North Atlantic….this makes for some larger, what we call “longer” swells…..they become dangerous to surfers and swimmers as they move onto the beach. They are also dangerous to small craft as they enter rivers and inlets. This is why this “warning” is issued.
These waves have a long period….the “period” is the time between the rise and fall of the wave….for example for the top of one wave to the top of the other passing under our hull will be about 10 seconds…..so we will notice just a rise and fall of the entire vessel about every 10 seconds…..
Not to worry about the ride on the Victory 1….we will stay in Captains cove….and keep the ride very comfortable….
If you are a surfer….you will have a great weekend.
Come Sail with us!
Captain Tim
